Allen Wheatcroft lives in Andersonville on Chicago’s Northside and spends several months in Sweden every year. After publishing Body Language (Damiani 2020) — a book of street photos from cities in Europe and the US — he turned his attention to exploring more deeply the built environment where he lives and spends his time. The result of these explorations was the publication, in April 2024, of companion books on Chicago and Sweden — The Northside and Björkevägen (Birch Road). In autumn 2025, he had a solo show, Home+Away (Hemma+Borta), with photos drawn from The Northside and Björkevägen, at the Swedish-American Museum in Chicago.
